Bring a little serenity to your holiday decorations by replacing Santa with Buddha. It sounds a bit sacrilege but the visual is calming. Friends of Buddha: Rudolph, Frosty, and Little Lamb.
This montage of freshly cut pine branches, the nativity scene, buddha, and a lamb creates a shrine for peace. A ceramic bird has been placed on the buddha's left hand because: 1) we didn't know what to do with the bird, and 2) the buddha's hand felt like it needed to hold a symbol of freedom, peace, and joy.
If you are aiming for a more secular, less spiritual motif, there's "Christmas Town." This is a town made of gingerbread homes, puffs of cotton snow, celebrity puppets, and other random items to assure worldly friends there needn't be a reason to celebrate the season.
And if this isn't your season, get on the next bus to Guatemala and flee winter altogether.
